Mrs. McLaughlin, 85, of Freehold Township, died March 20, 2009, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. McLaughlin had resided in Freehold from 1960 until 1985 when she moved back to the home where she was born in Millstone, moving to Applewood Estates six months ago. She was a court clerk at the Monmouth County Court House, Freehold, before her retirement in 1980 after more than 33 years. Mrs. McLaughlin served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946 and was a charter member of the National Women Marine’s Association. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert J. McLaughlin Sr., in 2000, and four brothers, Robert W. Sr., Frederick V., George and Joseph Searby. Surviving are a stepson, Albert J. McLaughlin Jr., his wife, Susan, and their three children; five grandchildren; a sister, Lillian E. Noreika; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
