MANVILLE: Police blotter

   At 6:49 a.m. March 16, a Jackson Avenue resident reported that someone broke a window on his vehicle while the vehicle was parked on the street outside the residence overnight.
   Police confirmed that the driver’s side window on the 2006 Chevy had been broken, and estimated the damage at $300.
A Jim Thorpe, Pa., resident came to police headquarters at 7:37 p.m. March 18 and reported 30 barbiturate tablets had been stolen from her vehicle. The victim believed the theft occurred when she loaned the vehicle to a friend March 16. An investigation into the theft is ongoing.
Vladimir Sterba, 31, of Bound Brook, was charged with disorderly conduct at 12:44 a.m. March 21 for allegedly causing a disturbance outside Pourman’s Pub on South Main Street.
   According to police, Mr. Sterba was yelling and shouting outside the bar, and was advised about disturbing the peace three times. Mr. Sterba continued and officers charged him, police said.
   Mr. Sterba was released after posting $500 cash bail.
A Gress Street resident called police at 4:21 p.m. March 23 after finding approximately five holes in the vinyl siding on his house. Police reported finding four half-inch holes in the siding, which they believed were made during the night.
   The officers did not find any objects or debris in the area to indicate what caused the damage, but estimated the cost to repair the holes at $250.
A Brooks Boulevard resident reported several items[jpa: we’re waiting for specifics on what the “items” are: ], valued at $1,175, were missing from his residence at 4:09 p.m. March 26.
   During an investigation, police determined the theft occurred while the resident was out of the country for several months, but could not find further leads because of the time between the theft and the report.
At 4:15 p.m. March 26, Matthew R. Nastanovich, 29, of South Street, was charged with simple assault for allegedly punching a man standing outside the Pure Go Go lounge on South Street.
   According to police, Mr. Nastanovich was walking outside the bar and punched the man three times. He was transported to Somerset Medical Center for evaluation after processing.
Matthew R. Mingle, 20, of Somerville, and Jacob A. Cuffie, 19, also of Somerville, were charged with shoplifting from Wal-Mart at 10:55 p.m. March 25.
   Police were unable to report the items taken from the North Main Street store, but reported finding an outstanding warrant for Mr. Mingle, in the amount of $823.
   Mr. Mingle and Mr. Cuffie were lodged in Somerset County Jail in default of $1,000 bail.
Three patrons of Uncle Davey’s Tavern reported stolen bikes shortly after midnight March 29, according to the police report. Each of the bikes had been secured to a utility pole by a cable lock, which was cut by the thieves.
   The first report was made at 12:58 a.m., when a resident reported a 26-inch, chrome-colored 21-speed “Hyper” mountain bike was stolen from outside. The bike is valued at $150.
   At 1:26 a.m. March 29, another resident reported a 26-inch, 15-speed, red and white Schwinn “Sidewinder” bike, valued at $300, was stolen from outside Wal-Mart.
   And at 11:17 a.m., a resident reported a 26-inch, 15-speed, blue “Roadster” bike was stolen from outside Uncle Davey’s Tavern. The bike is valued at $70.
Jennifer Coney, 44, of Plainfield, was charged with shoplifting after attempting to make a fraudulent return at Wal-Mart at 3:21 p.m. March 29, police said.
   The North Main Street store’s loss prevention officers reported the theft, which allegedly involved Ms. Coney removing items from the store shelves and attempting to return them for cash. Police did not have a record of the items, or the amount Ms. Coney allegedly attempted to return.
   Ms. Coney was transported to Somerset County Jail in default of $500 cash bail.
