SOUTH RIVER — After a month-long investigation, police have arrested a 27-year-old Jamaica, N.Y., man for allegedly selling crack cocaine.
Police stopped Adika Anderson on Milton Avenue at 5:14 p.m. on March 27 in a 2009 Dodge Charger.
“We found an ounce of crack cocaine and $955 in cash in the motor vehicle,” said South River Police Lt. John Casey.
Officers then searched Anderson’s hotel room at the Studio 6 Extended Stay Hotel in East Brunswick, reportedly finding two more ounces of crack cocaine and a total of $12,500 in cash.
“[The investigation found that] he would come down and stay at the hotel from Thursday to Sunday to sell the crack cocaine, and then travel back to New York the rest of the days,” Casey said.
Police also seized his new Dodge Charger.
“We are determining if the vehicle was purchased by drug proceeds,” Casey said.
South River Police Detective Robert Maclosky led the investigation in conjunction with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force.
Anderson was charged with possession of crack cocaine, distribution of crack cocaine, distribution of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school zone and sale of crack cocaine to an undercover police officer, police said. His bail was set at $150,000 with no 10-percent option, and he was transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick.
