Hugh T. Hurley III of Montgomery
The Montgomery Township Education Foundation held its fourth annual fundraiser on Saturday evening at the Cherry Valley Country Club. I would like to thank the many parents, teachers, school administrators and friends who came out to join us for a very enjoyable and successful evening.
The Foundation acknowledges with gratitude the businesses and individuals who contributed to the silent and live auctions. In particular, we would like to recognize Brad Benson of Brad Benson Hyundai who generously donated a 2010 Genesis Coupe which was won in the raffle by Noelle Drift of Skillman.
The party was organized flawlessly by event committee members Leeann Martin, Lisa Miller, Karen DiPersia and Mandy Holanda. My colleagues and fellow MTEF Board members Wade Martin, Sheri McCoy, Hugh Miller, Jim Holanda, George Wiltse, Rich Smith, and Andy Pedinoff wish to thank these great people for their enthusiasm and tireless efforts.
The funds raised by the evening will help offset the mortgage payments on the turf playing field at Montgomery High School which was built by the Foundation in 2004 and turned over to the school district for use by the entire Montgomery community. The foundation has also been able to provide the school district with numerous other contributions including special classroom grants to award winning teachers, cameras for use in photography courses, a portable planetarium, an outdoor classroom to be completed this spring at the Lower Middle School, support for the Head Injury Concussion Impact program for all athletes, and creation of the championship banners now hanging in the MHS gymnasium.
It is our privilege to work with the community to continue to enhance the educational opportunities for our children. The foundation looks forward to continuing to provide additional support that will benefit the district’s students.
