Cortez Marquee McClain, 27, of Detroit, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. March 31 after police responded to reports of a man soliciting without a permit on the 700 block of Prospect Avenue. Police said Mr. McClain, who said he was soliciting for a company called Urban Development Solutions, also had $780 in warrants out of Manasquan Borough and Belmar Borough in addition to a warrant out of Shelby Township, Mich.
West Windsor
Oleg Zubach, 29, of Philadelphia, was charged with DWI after a traffic stop March 30 on southbound Route 1 at Meadow Road. He was stopped for failure to maintain his lane while driving a 2002 Acura, and investigation revealed that he was under the influence, police said. He was arrested and issues summonses for DWI, failure to maintain lane and maintenance of lamps.
A resident of Princeton reported a theft that occurred at about 5 p.m. March 29 in the Starbucks at Princeton MarketFair. Someone stole the victim’s wallet from her handbag while she was in line at Starbucks.
Donnell Woodall, 20, of Trenton, was charged with shoplifting March 31 from the Wal-Mart in Nassau Park. He is accused of concealing merchandise inside his jacket pocket and leaving the store. He was detained by store security and later arrested by West Windsor police. He was released to the Trenton Police Department on outstanding warrants.
Police are looking for three suspects in a shoplifting incident at Victoria’s Secret in MarketFair on March 31. Police said that after shoplifting numerous bras and panties from the store, the three fled in Dodge Stratus car, and the license plate number was obtained from a witness at the scene. An officer then observed the car drive into Nassau Park. Officers checked the parking lots and found the vehicle unattended. It was ultimately towed and impounded for identification work. The West Windsor Detective Bureau is conducting an investigation. Descriptions of the suspects, two men and one woman, were vague.
A resident of Plainsboro reported that her wallet was stolen Thursday while she was seated at the bar at the Big Fish Restaurant in Princeton MarketFair. The wallet was removed from her purse, which she had placed on the ground next to her chair. The victim canceled her credit cards prior to any fraudulent use, police said.
A resident of Winterberry Way reported a theft from a vehicle that occurred between Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. An unknown person broke the driver’s side front window of victim’s vehicle while it was parked in an apartment parking lot and stole a radar detector.
Montgomery
Aaron Levy, 28, of Princeton was arrested Monday on an outstanding warrant issued by the Princeton Borough Municipal Court for a motor vehicle violation. He was pulled over by police on Route 206 for driving a vehicle with an expired inspection decal. A check of his driver’s license revealed the active warrant. Mr. Levy was transported to police headquarters where he posted $89 bail and was released. He was also issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to have his vehicle inspected.
Jessica Kosinski, 27, of Princeton, was arrested Monday on an outstanding warrant issued by the Hopewell Borough Municipal Court. She was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on Route 206 for having an expired inspection decal. After the driver was arrested for having an active warrant, Ms. Kosinski’s driver’s license was checked so that she could drive the vehicle, which revealed the active warrant. She was transported to police headquarters where she posted $165 bail and was released.
Plainsboro
Xavier Ortiz-Bergada, 26, of Edison, was charged with DWI after a traffic stop early Friday morning on northbound Route 1. Mr. Ortiz-Bergada was stopped for speeding and because a license plate light was out on his vehicle. As he was being stopped, he threw a cigarette out the window, police said. Further investigation revealed that he was driving while intoxicated, police said. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing, where he refused to take an alcohol test, police said. He received summonses for DWI, refusal, speeding, reckless driving, throwing debris from a vehicle and maintenance of lamps.
Eugene Lewis, 25, of Quail Ridge Drive, and Christine Cappola, 25, of Quail Ridge Drive, were charged with offering alcohol to minors and making property available to consume alcohol after police responded to a reported noise complaint Saturday evening at their residence. Field investigation revealed that the two offered alcohol to minors, and Mr. Lewis was found to be in unlawful possession of a handgun, police said. He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and transported the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in default of $7,500 bail.
Soma Gopinath-Reddy, 28, of Fox Run Drive, was charged with hindering and obstruction of justice after a traffic stop Saturday night. He was stopped for running a red light at Plainsboro and Dey roads, police said. Investigation revealed that his vehicle, a 1998 Honda, was unregistered since March 2008. The driver attempted to provide false information about where he lived to avoid receiving summonses for uninsured, expired Texas registration and failure to get a N.J. driver’s license after a year of residency in the state, police said. He was arrested, processed and lodged in Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center on $1,500 bail.
Saagar Modi, 20, of Cranbury, was charged with DWI after a traffic stop early Saturday morning on Schalks Crossing Road. He was stopped while driving a 2002 Mazda 626 for speeding and not maintaining his lane, police said. After he was found to be under the influence of alcohol, he was arrested and brought back to police headquarters for processing, police said. He was charged with DWI, possession of a fake ID, DWI in a school zone, speeding, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.
Vincent Capriotti, 39, of Collingswood, was charged with obstruction of justice after a traffic stop Sunday morning on northbound Route 1. He was stopped while driving a 2002 Dodge Neon for improper passing, police said. During the stop, he was unable to produce a N.J. driver’s license or valid insurance card, police said. He was arrested because he refused to allow an officer to search the vehicle for a driver’s license and insurance card, police said. He was issued numerous motor vehicle summonses and released.
A 36-year-old male resident of Pheasant Hollow reported a robbery and aggravated assault that occurred Thursday evening. While walking through the Pheasant Hollow apartments near Building 1, the victim was grabbed from behind in a chokehold by a male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. Another male began to pat his clothing. He was described as a male in his late 20s, clean shaven, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The victim was told to give up all his money. His wallet was overlooked because it was hidden in his lower pants leg, and as a result the only items stolen were about $3 worth of change and a package of cigarettes. When the victim tried to pull away, he was punched in the left side of his face, causing a fractured jaw. The victim briefly lost consciousness and was helped by an unknown resident of Pheasant Hollow, who drove him to the St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton. It is unknown why the resident did this instead of contacting police. St. Francis staff contacted Plainsboro police when the victim arrived at the center. The victim was released from the hospital, but required surgery later that day to repair the fractured jaw.
Three men were charged with possession of heroin after a traffic stop shortly after midnight March 31 on northbound Route 1. A red 1994 Oldsmobile was pulled over for having a headlight out, police said. Investigation during the stop revealed several forms of drug paraphernalia in plain view, police said. The interior of the vehicle was inundated with loose tobacco cigar leaf wrappers and cut straws about 2 inches in length used to snort controlled and dangerous substances, police said. The driver, James Prieth, 29, of Morrisville, Pa., and passengers, Henry Fazekas, 28, of Monmouth, and James Wallace, 50, of Hamilton, were searched, police said. All three were found to be in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia, police said. A total of 19 “decks” of suspected heroin were seized, police said. Mr. Prieth was also found to be in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. They were arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. They were charged and committed to the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in default of $25,000 bail.
A resident of the Walker Gordon development on Hawthorn Drive reported a theft that occurred March 28 or March 29. Someone entered an open garage door and went into two vehicles parked inside. Two pairs of designer sunglasses valued at $200 each, a GPS valued at $500, and a pair of prescription glasses valued at $250 were taken. The case is under investigation.
A resident of Birch Drive reported a theft that occurred between March 27 and March 29. Someone entered an open garage door and took a Hewlett Packard laptop computer and carrying case, valued at $1,500, from inside an unlocked 2004 Lexus. The case is under investigation.
Two 15-year-old West Windsor residents and one 16-year-old Plainsboro resident were charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams after police were summoned to West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North on March 26. The 15-year-olds, both ninth-graders, were taken into custody for possession of marijuana under 50 grams for possessing a “joint,” police said. The third student, a 10th-grader, was taken into custody charged with possessing eight “dime” bags of marijuana, police said. He faces two additional charges of possession with the intent to distribute and possession of marijuana on school property. All three juveniles were released to a guardian pending a future court appearance.
