“Footprints” will pick up the pace Saturday, April 25, as the fifth annual fundraising event for the Crisis Ministry of Princeton and Trenton welcomes running enthusiasts to its first “Footprints” Run.
Princeton University Prof. Melissa Harris-Lacewell, who appears regularly on Rachel Maddow, Bill Moyers, and other popular programs, will give the keynote on the importance of voluntarism in today’s economy. In addition, participants and supporters are asked to leave canned goods in the red pickup truck that will serve as a focal point for the morning’s activities.
“We’re expanding this year’s event to attract even more participants with the ‘Footprints’ Run, while also keeping the focus on our neighbors in need with the canned foods drive,” ýPage=010 Column=002 OK,0010.00þ said “Footprints” chair Beth Fitzgerald.
“We are confident that our participants will help us reach the fundraising goal of $35,000. The money we raise will support the hunger and homelessness prevention programs of the Crisis Ministry.”
Sign-in for the rain-or- shine events will begin at 7 a.m., followed by the Run at 8 a.m., Professor Harris- Lacewell’s keynote at 9 a.m., and the Walk. Runners and walkers will follow a scenic 2.6-mile stretch of the Delaware & Raritan Canal towpath that turns back at Harrison Street in Princeton for the return trip. The “Footprints” starting location is at the Kingston entrance to the Delaware & Raritan Canal off Route 27, with plenty of parking in Flemer Field on the other side of the road.
