Lambertville, Stockton, and New Hope businesses unite to build community spirit
There is a common interest among many in the Lambertville, Stockton, and New Hope areas. Local businesses are uniting to build community spirit, invigorate “buy local,” and help local people.
Gene and Kendra Lelie, owners of Body Tech Fitness, Lambertville, are the founders of the new local coupon book, which features approximately 50 area businesses offering people coupons to their establishments. Valued at over $600, the book costs $5. Proceeds will be being donated to Fisherman’s Mark, 89 N. Union St., Lambertville.
The Lelies chose Fisherman’s Mark as the charity because of its mission to help the local community. “We serve over 2000 local residents and believe we have a similar focus of helping our neighbors. We wanted to tie the missions of both entities together. We are working to unite as a group, to help each other, our communities, and the people we serve. We want to help our local businesses and at the same time help people in need of the tremendous services available at Fisherman’s Mark. The book is a great value during hard economic times. It is a win-win for everyone.”
Fisherman’s Mark’s mission is to strengthen the capabilities of individuals and the function of relationships between individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.
The private nonprofit organization serves all sectors of the community, including the Lambertville Academy Child Care Center, Fisherman’s Mark Food Pantry, and Resource & Referral services.
The money raised from this coupon book will assist Fisherman’s Mark in offering these programs at a time when people are very much in need and state funding is uncertain.
”This opportunity couldn’t have come at a better time as we are seeing an average of 35 new client families a month, up more that 40 percent from last year,” said Executive Director, Barbara Petty.
The books are on sale at Living Earth Home & Garden in New Hope, Pa. and at the following locations in Lambertville: Fisherman’s Mark; the Lambertville Chamber of Commerce (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.); Zanya Spa; Tickles & Toes; and Body Tech Fitness. Anyone purchasing the book at Body Tech Fitness will be gifted a 14-day free trial membership. Books also will be available for purchase at the Body Tech Fitness booth during the Shad Festival at the end of April.
All participants in the coupon book are located in the New Hope, Stockton, and Lambertville vicinities. For more information on Fisherman’s Mark, go to www.fishermansmark.org.
