Club seeking those ‘touched by Optimism’

In celebration of its 50th year in existence, the Freehold Optimist Club will host a dinner on Sept. 12 at the Elks Club in Freehold. Dinner, catered by the Federici family, will cost $25 to attend. A cash bar will be available at club prices.

To help celebrate, the Optimists are currently seeking 50 people who may have been “touched by Optimism” during those 50 years.

Over the years the Optimists held oratorical contests, gave hundreds of scholarships, held bike safety programs and sponsored more Optimist clubs.

The club is seeking 50 people whose lives may have been influenced as a result of Optimist Club participation.

For instance, several nursing scholarships were given out over the years and perhaps one of those winners is now on the staff of a local hospital. Or perhaps someone won an oratorical contest sponsored by the Optimists and subsequently entered a field requiring that skill.
