LAWRENCE: Police seek bank robber

By Lea Kahn, Staff Writer
A bank robber walked out of the PNC Bank on Franklin Corner Road with an undisclosed amount of money Monday afternoon, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department.
The man walked into the bank shortly after noon, went up to a teller’s window and handed the teller a note demanding money, said police Lt. Charles B. Edgar. He threatened to use a firearm if she did not hand over the money, police said, but he did not display a gun.
The teller handed him an undisclosed amount of cash, and he walked out of the bank, Lt. Edgar said. No one was injured during the incident, and it is not known whether he fled the bank on foot or in a vehicle, police said.
Police searched the area, but could not find him. He is described as a black male and stands about 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall. He appeared to be in his early 20s, and had a stocky build and short, cropped hair.
He was wearing a green and white horizontal striped, zippered sweatshirt with a hood, Lt. Edgar said. He was wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and black shoes. He also wore dark sunglasses during part of the incident, and also carried an umbrella.
The robbery is under investigation by Officer Lauren Laux and Detective Sharon Micinski of the Lawrence police in cooperation with the Trenton office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Anyone with information regarding the robber or who recognizes him in the photos provided by PNC Bank should contact the Lawrence Township Police Department at 609-896-1111 or the Trenton FBI office at 609-689-7999.
