Racetrack slots would provide needed revenue

What are the issues that matter to New Jersey residents? Time and again, voters have supported open space initiatives on the ballot. In these difficult economic conditions, new revenue sources are desperately needed.

Why then, is the current administration refusing to consider the installation of video lottery terminals (VLTs), or slots, at the state’s racetracks, which would provide revenue and strengthen the racing industry?

New Jersey is now surrounded by states with VLTs, which is drawing horsemen to those greener pastures of higher purse structures and better breeding programs and incentives.

If the horse industry leaves New Jersey, thousands of jobs go with it, and thousands of acres of open space and beautiful horse farms helping to keep the state green will be threatened by development.

Tell Gov. Corzine and your legislators that you support VLTs at racetracks — a win-win situation for the taxpayer, the horse industry and open space.
