Sherry Stachowski, of New Egypt
Last week two candidates running for the Plumsted Township Board of Education, Joanna Barlow and Rick Roach, knocked on my door. They were out campaigning in the rain and gave me a copy of their flyer. The flyer detailed the forward strides taken by Mrs. Barlow and the board over the past three years. Mrs. Barlow and Mr. Roach both took the time to explain to me why they are running and thoroughly answered all of my questions. I was happy to see that they are running as a team with Robin Witkowski. Their flyer included their shared vision for the future of our schools and our students.
In comparison, as I came out of the elementary school play last Friday night, I found a business card stuck in the driver’s-side window of my car. The card was some sort of advertisement for the other three candidates running for the board. It said “Back on Track” in large bold letters, but gave no details, goals or vision. I have yet to understand what “Back on Track” really means or how our schools are off the track.
Because of their message, vision and goals for our schools and our community, and their willingness to go that extra mile to reach out to me personally, I will be voting for the Barlow, Roach, Witkowski team on April 21.
