Steve Friedman was promoted from patrol officer to acting sergeant

Joseph J. Maccaquano took the oath of office as a Pennington Borough police officer at Monday night’s Borough Council meeting.
Mr. Maccaquano, 21, from Tom’s River, will be paid $44,100 annually. He has been on duty in the borough since March 16.
Also on that date, Steve Friedman was promoted from patrol officer to acting sergeant on the Pennington Police Department. Officer Friedman, the senior member of the Pennington department, has been with the unit 19 years. His predecessor as acting sergeant was Robert DiLorenzo, who retired several months ago.
Sgt. Friedman’s annual pay is $64,400.
Officer Maccaquano’s hire fills the vacancy created by the recent retirement of Patrolman Frank Lynch.
Pennington has hired three new police officers since June 2008. They include Mr. Maccaquano, Mark Offerman, who was hired in June, and Daryl Burroughs, hired in November.
Other officers on the force are Novin Thomas and Douglas Pinelli .
