The Robbinsville High School baseball team was defeated by Notre Dame, 9-3, in the season opener on Wednesday, April 1.
Fred Ulisse had three hits, a run and RBI for Robbinsville. Steve Kowalski had two hits. Rob Zingaro and Ryan Leader both had a hit and a run scored.
Robbinsville came away with a win and a loss this past Saturday while competing in a tournament at Northern Burlington.
Robbinsville was defeated in the first game, 15-2, by Rancocas Valley.
Ryan Casey had two hits. Ulisse had a hit, run scored and RBI.
Robbinsville regrouped to defeat Northern Burlington in the consolation game on Saturday, 11-6.
Rob Zingaro allowed two runs and three hits in five innings of work to record the win. Zingaro also had two hits, two runs and a RBI.
Robbinsville scored all of its runs in two big innings — four in the second and seven in the fifth. Ulisse had three hits and three RBI. Kowalski (two runs and two RBI), Ryan Casey (run and two RBI) had two hits each. Ryan Leader, Cory Karagjozi (two RBI), Eric Strano and Ryan Fleming also scored runs.
Robbinsville was scheduled to play West Windsor North yesterday (Wednesday). Robbinsville will play New Egypt at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Waterfront Park. Robbinsville will play at Steinert on Monday at 4 p.m. It will host Ewing at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Allentown High School baseball team was defeated by West Windsor North, 7-2, in the season opener on Wednesday, April 1.
Ed Ras had three hits for Allentown in the loss, including a two-run homer in the third.
“We’re the defending state champs, so everyone has their game against us circled on the calendar,” Allentown Coach Brian Nice said. “We’re going to get everyone’s best game, they’re going to be ready to play us. If we want to win, we’re going to have to match that intensity. We didn’t do that (in the opener).”
Allentown was rained out of its game on Friday against Steinert, two games on Saturday and a game against Ewing on Monday.
“It’s frustrating because after a loss you want to get right back out there,” Nice said. “This is the fourth game we’ve lost (to bad weather) this week.”
Allentown was scheduled to play West Windsor North yesterday (Wednesday). Allentown will host Somerville today (Thursday) at 11 a.m. Allentown will be at Lawrence for a 2:30 p.m. start on Monday. It will host Hightstown at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
