New Brunswick, NJ (January 22, 2008)—State Theatre has announced the addition of classic rocker Joe Cocker on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 7pm. Cocker, performing with a full band, will perform hits from the last 40 years as well as songs from his latest album, Hymn for My Soul.Tickets are now on sale and range from $30-100.
British soul singer Joe Cocker parlayed Ray Charles-type vocals and an eccentric stage presence into a string of late-60s hits, suffered in the mid-‘70s, and went from tragic figure to well-respected interpreter in the 80s and 90s. His gritty, powerful voice remains one of the most distinctive in rock & roll today. Joe Cocker’s hits include “With a Little Help from My Friends,” “Cry Me a River,” “Feelin’ Alright,” “You Are So Beautiful,” “The Letter,” and the duet “Up Where We Belong” with Jennifer Warnes.
