   Spotlight on women – Upper Freehold resident Sarah Bent will be the guest speaker at the Allentown/Upper Freehold Historical Society monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at Allentown United Methodist Church, 23 Church St. Ms. Bent, historic site supervisor at Historic Walnford, will share her knowledge and expertise about women in business and other prominent roles women played before the age of women’s rights. All are welcome

   All that jazz – The Allentown High School Jazz Band, directed by Jeff Santoro, and the RBPA are present On the Town Jazz Night. This year, the AHS Jazz Band is proud to have the Allentown Middle School jazz bands join them for their night of music in the AHS gym. The concert begins at 7pm, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The event includes a catered, buffet dinner and a gift basket auction. The theme is Mardi Gras. Tickets cost $20 per adult and $15 for children 10 and under. Tables may be reserved in advance. All advanced tickets must be purchased by April 14. Tickets also will be sold at the door.    Picture that – The Allentown Lions Club will be selling beverages, bagels and donuts at the Allentown Little League Opening Day Team Picture event at the Allentown Elementary school. There will also be a 50/50 raffle with the proceeds going toward the Allentown Lions High Scholarship.

   Country breakfast – Windsor United Methodist Church, 51 Church St., Windsor will hold its monthly event from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Breakfast for adults and children over the age of 12 is $5.    Robbinsville and rails – “Sesquicentennial Conversations With…” presents John Kilbride, president of the Camden & Amboy Railroad Historical Group.    Nutritional meeting –The Horsemen’s Association of Millstone Township will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Community Center, 463 Stagecoach Road, in the Clarksburg section. Michael L. Westendorf from Rutgers University, Dept. of Animal Sciences will give a presentation on “New Nutrient Management Regulations mandated by NJ Department of Agriculture.” The public is welcome to attend.

   Touch a Truck – The New Egypt Elks Special Children’s Committee and the New Egypt United Methodist Church will be holding a Touch-a-Truck event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the New Egypt Elks Lodge, 105 Lakewood Road.    Spring book sale – The Robbinsville Township Library Advisory Committee’s Annual Spring Book Sale will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. In anticipation of the sale the library will be taking donations of gently used books from April 27 through April 30. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Robbinsville Branch, Mercer County Library.

   Mimosas for mom – Silver Decoy Winery, in Robbinsville, will be serving a continental breakfast and Traminette mimosas on Mother’s Day weekend, along with vineyard tours all day. There is no charge for the event.

   MOMs meeting – The MOMS Club of Millstone Township will holding its next monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Mothers from Millstone and Roosevelt are welcome to come meet the club’s members and learn about this international, nonprofit organization.    New Egypt Day – Main Street New Egypt and the Neighborhood Preservation Programs of Plumsted Township are hosting the annual outdoor street festival on Front Street and at Oakford Lake Park. This year’s theme is Fun and Fitness. There will be free fitness classes going on throughout the day. Obstacle courses and fitness games will be available for both children and adults. Vendors, businesses, fitness professionals and local organizations are being sought to participate. Deadline for vendor registration is May 1.    Art sale – The Plumsted Township Council for the Arts will be holding a Y-ART sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the annual New Egypt Day festival. Everything art-related will be for sale, including prints, photographs, music, art books, arts and crafts supplies. The council will be accepting donations at the Welcome Center at 31 Main St. in New Egypt on April 11 and May 9 from 10 a.m. to noon.    Discussing books – The Plumsted branch of the Ocean County Library has a book discussion group that meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Registration can be done in person, by phone at 609-758-7888 or online at www.theoceancountylibrary.org.
   Tax help in Robbinsville: Every Wednesday, through April 15, volunteers from AARP will be available at the Robbinsville Branch, Mercer County Library to help anyone fill out basic income tax forms. Appointments are every hour on the half-hour starting at 9:30 a.m., with the last appointment at 12:30 p.m. The only requirement is that you bring last year’s completed form and this year’s income tax booklet. Registration is a must. You may call or stop at the library to arrange for an appointment. The library’s phone number is 609-259-2150.
   ESL group in Allentown: English As A Second Language classes for adults meet every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Upper Freehold Regional Middle School, 27 High St., room 203. A multi-media approach is used to teach English with a concentration on the English necessary for parents with children in school. No class if school is closed for the day.
   Millstone Women’s Club: The Millstone Township Women’s Organization meets every fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. September through May at the Clarksburg Community Center, Stage Coach Road. All Millstone Township women are welcome and encouraged to join.
