Redbird registration
    Friday, April 17 — The Allentown Redbirds Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading program will be holding in-person registration on Friday, April 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to noon. All children, between the ages of 5 and 14, that reside in Allentown, Bordentown, Chesterfield, Crosswicks, Robbinsville and Upper Freehold are welcome to join. Stop by the concession stand at Byron Johnson Field on Ellisdale Road to speak to a representative and to sign up for the 2009 season. Flea market
    Saturday, April 18 — The Bordentown Regional High School Class of 2010 is holding a Flea Market in the High School parking lot (318 Ward Ave.) from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. Interested in your own table? Contact Michelle Leusner at 609-298-0025, extension 1182.
    In addition, we will be holding a car wash. Get your car washed and find great deals at the same time. Cost will be $5 for cars/small trucks and $6 for large trucks/SUVs/vans.
Evening of Cole Porter
    Saturday, April 18 — Bordentown City’s Old City Hall Restoration Project will hold a fundraising event titled “An Evening of Cole Porter and Friends.” Come out and enjoy an evening of Cole Porter songs and show tunes by local professional vocalists Robert Violette and Sarah Blann-Crafts accompanied by piano virtuoso Bobbie Boulware. Both singers will entertain us with renditions of old favorites at 7:30 p.m. at the Old City Hall, 11 Crosswicks St. in Bordentown City. Parking is available at St. Mary’s Church parking lot. Tickets for “An Evening of Cole Porter” can be purchased for $25 at the following venues on Farnsworth Avenue: The Farnsworth Gallery, Silk and Tweed, Shoppe 202, Under the Moon Restaurant, from Assemblyman Joe Malone or by calling 609-298-6470 or 609-298-4332. Refreshments will be available for purchase the night of the event. All proceeds go directly to restoring Old City Hall. Tickets are limited to 99.
Tree planting
    Saturday, April 18 — An Arbor Day tree planting will be held at 9 a.m. Help plant shade trees throughout Bordentown City. Bring a shovel and gloves. Sponsored by the Bordentown City Shade Tree Committee. Meet at City Hall, 324 Farnsworth Avenue.
Car wash
    Sunday, April 19 — Bordentown High School Baseball will sponsor a car wash from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bordentown Elks, 11 Amboy Road. Price for car wash is only $5. Please support Bordentown Baseball. For infromation regarding the car wash, call Tom Potts 609-298-5405.
Elks breakfast
    Sunday, April 19 —The Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085 breakfast will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the lodge on Route 206. The breakfast is sponsored by the Special Children’s Committee every third Sunday of every month (except July and August). The proceeds help children/young adults participate in bowling and various other activities planned by the committee.
Bingo
    Tuesday, April 21 —The Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085 holds bingo every Tuesday night beginning at 7:15 p.m.
Sandwich night
    Wednesday, April 22 — The Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085 every Wednesday night holds a sandwich sale from 6 to 8 p.m. The price is $6 per person.
Community sale
    Saturday, April 25 — The Clara Barton School PTO’s first Community Sale will be held April 25. The sale will be held in the school gym, at 100 Crosswicks St. Bordentown, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Toys, books, clothing, household items will all be available. Home businesses & local crafters are also welcome. Table rental is $15 for CBS families & $20 for all other community members. Earth Day event
    Saturday, April 25 —The Annual Earth Day Event will start at 9 a.m., to create a park on Oliver Street in Bordentown City. Volunteers will help clean up this open space parcel and start a nature trail. Bring shovel and/or trowel, rake and gloves. Meet at 9 a.m. at the corner of Oliver and Chestnut Streets. Ticket auction
    Saturday, April 25 — Bordentown Band Boosters annual ticket auction will be held at the high school, 318 Ward Ave. to benefit the BRHS band. Doors open at 6 p.m., auction begins at 7:30 p.m. $10 admission includes one sheet of tickets, door prize ticket, one beverage and one dessert. Bike Eric
    Saturday, April 25 —The 11th Annual Bike Eric fundraiser will be held to benefit the Eric Potts Foundation. Eric was injured in a lacrosse game when he was 21 years old. He is a quadriplegic (paralyzed from the chest down). The event starts and finishes at Bung’s tavern at Route 130 in Florence. Door prizes available for participants. Historical Society open house
    Sunday, April 26 — The Florence Historical Society will an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. at the new firehouse on Firehouse Lane. Admission is free. Earth Talk
    Tuesday, April 28 — The BCEC Earth Talk for April will include a screening of “The Greening of Southie” at 7 p.m., about Boston’s first LEED-certified residential green building. With its sloping grass roof and recycled materials, The Macallen Building seemed an odd addition to South Boston – “Southie” – a Traditionally working-class neighborhood. Yet The Macallen not only won high marks for its sustainable design ideas and offered its diverse residents luxury features, its creation also spurred construction workers and environmentalists to think about the city of the future. Geranium sale
    Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 — The Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown is now accepting orders for its annual geranium sale. Hoagie sale
    Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 — The Florence Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 is holding a hoagie and meatball sandwich sale from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 1 and from 11 a.m. until they sell out on May 2. The hoagies available are American, Italian and tuna. The price is $6 for either a hoagie or meatball sandwich, which includes beverage and chips. Advance orders are welcome by calling 499-6003 or fax 499-6004. Delivery is available locally. History program
    Wednesday, May 6 — The Bordentown Historical Society presents the second in a series of monthly free programs featuring local historic sites. “Howell Living History Farm” is part of the Mercer County Parks Commission and a working tribute to 19th century farm life in New Jersey. Come hear about the origin and restoration of the farm and the activities and programs available to adults and children throughout the ear. Golf tournament
    Thursday, May 7 —Mark your calendars now for the Chesterfield Public Education Fund’s (CPEF) Annual Golf Tournament, Dinner & Live Auction, to be held at Mercer Oaks in Princeton Junction. Come for golf, dinner or both, and stay for the auction. This is the CPEF’s only fundraiser. To date, the CPEF has expended over $200,000 to purchase items for the classrooms as well as fund activities and programs for the students. Please plan to attend this great annual tradition! St. Mary’s gift baskets
    Friday, May 15 — The St. Mary’s PTA will sponsor the school’s annual gift basket auction that will be held at the Bordentown Elks Club, 11 Amboy Ave. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. The admission cost is $6 and includes a sheet of tickets, free dessert and a door prize ticket. There will be a large variety of beautiful gift items available. No one under 18 permitted.

Logo contest
    The Crosswicks-Doctors Creek Watershed Association (CDCWA) is opening its logo contest to the general public. The contest period will run through May 15, 2009. The Logo Selection Committee of the CDCWA will evaluate all submitted entries and announce the winning entry on June 15. The winner will be notified and a $50 prize will be awarded at the regular meeting of the CDCWA in September 2009. The CDCWA is a local non-profit that has as its mission to protect surface water quality, preserve historic sites and vistas, and create a network of land and water trails within the Crosswicks-Doctors Creek Watershed.
