Mr. Ley, 98, of Middletown, died April 2, 2009, at home. Before his retirement, he was a member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, and began his 49-year career at AT&T, Holmdel. Following retirement in 1975, Mr. Ley performed contract work at Bell Laboratories until 1991, and he holds one patent. He is survived by a brother, Arthur Ley of Campbell Hall, N.Y.; his wife, Frances; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Edmund Ley of Pittsfield, Mass., Thomas and Daryl Ley of Rumson, and Robert and Maylee Ley of Brookline, Mass.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Trudi Jensen of Jupiter, Fla., and Cathy and Dennis Chamberlain of Little Silver; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, followed by internment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
