On Tuesday, voters will weigh in on the proposed $109 million school budget, and elect three members of the Board of Education.
The $109,201,188 budget for 2009-2010 is a 2.7 percent increase over the current $106,331,394 budget, and would raise the tax rate by 1 cent per $100 of assessed value, from $1.96 to $1.97. A property owner with a property assessed at the township average of $375,000 would see the school portion of a property tax bill increase by $37.50, to $7,387.50.
Six residents Thomas Kinst, Steven Paget, Nick Pampani, Marc Rosenberg, Barbara Sargent and David Wald filed for the Board of Education seats currently held by incumbents David Lin, Mr. Paget and Mr. Rosenberg.
Residents in voting Districts 1, 3, 8, 10, 19, 21, 24, 26, 28, 29 and 31 will vote at the municipal building; Districts 2, 4, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 23 and 30 will vote at Hillsborough Elementary School; Districts 5, 6 and 7 will vote at Sunnymead Elementary School; Districts 18, 20 and 22 will vote at Woods Road School, and Districts 9, 11, 25 and 27 vote at Amsterdam Elementary School. Polls will be open from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Residents unable to get to the polls Tuesday may apply for absentee ballots at the county clerk’s office, at 20 Grove St., Somerville, by 3 p.m. Monday. The board of elections must receive the absentee ballots by 9 a.m. Tuesday.
