SOUTH BRUNSWICK: Prostitution arrests made

by Davy James, Staff Writer
Police arrested two women on prostitution charges last week following an investigation into the solicitation of sexual acts on the Web site craigslist.org.
The arrests are the second incident of online solicitation via craigslist.org in the township since the beginning of the year.
Willmarie Luberza, 24, of Illinois, and Alyssa Sweitzer, 19, of California, were arrested at the Double Tree Hotel on Route 1 at 3 p.m. April 8. Hotel staff became suspicious after noticing a significant flow of male visitors in and out of the rooms rented by the women, according to police.
After hotel staff alerted police, an undercover detective scheduled meetings with the women individually. During the two meetings, the detective was solicited and the two women were arrested without incident, police said.
Police declined to elaborate on how the detective got in touch with the women because they did not want to jeopardize future investigations.
Both women were released after being issued summonses and they checked out of the hotel.
The investigation revealed the women arranged for the illegal encounters via the internet, police said. The arrests followed similar incidents of online solicitation in the township that took place in January.
Between Jan. 5 and Jan. 8, police arrested three women in two separate incidents at the Double Tree Hotel and the Extended Stay America Hotel on Route 1. The three women were charged with promoting and engaging in prostitution.
Police said the three accused women posted ads on craiglist.org soliciting sexual acts and advertising South Brunswick locations.
”Within South Brunswick Township we’re aware that this type of activity goes on and stopping it is a priority,” said Public Information Officer Sgt. James Stoddard. “(Chief Raymond Hayducka) has expressed to us all that this is the type of crime that most people think is minor in nature, but it affects the quality of life in the township. We will continue to remain on top of it as best we can.”
