SOUTH BRUNSWICK: Suspect nabbed after report of break-in attempt

   South Brunswick police arrested a man wanted by authorities in New Jersey and Florida for outstanding warrants as he was attempting to gain entry into a Monmouth Junction home.
   A Dawn Court resident called police April 9 at 5:30 p.m. to report that a man was trying to break into a townhouse on his block using a credit card to slip the locking mechanism. When police arrived, officers found Andrew Jones, 22, at the Dawn Court residence still attempting to enter the home. Mr. Jones told police he lived at the home and had lost his keys.
   Police said the home Mr. Jones was attempting to enter was his mother’s residence, but she declined to participate in the investigation or confirm whether Mr. Jones was welcome at the home, according to public information officer Sgt. James Stoddard.
   A subsequent records check revealed that Mr. Jones was wanted by authorities for outstanding warrants related to various theft charges in South Brunswick, Edison, East Windsor, Middlesex County and Tampa, Fla. He was then taken into custody by Patrolman George Vit.
   During processing, Mr. Jones was found to be in possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana.
   He was charged with drug possession was taken to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center on the outstanding warrants in lieu of bail. His cumulative bail on the various warrants is set at $39,972.
