YOUTH SOFTBALL
Christ the King School’s Lady Knights split two games in the opening weekend of the softball season.
The girls lost to St. Francis-Metuchen (17-2) on Saturday but beat St. Peter’s (22-5) on Sunday in the Tri-County Parochial School Girls’ Softball League. This is CTK’s first season in the league, another new activity offered this year to the students at Christ the King.
The CTK defense was lead by Caitie Beattie, who made three putouts (two unassisted) and Kylie Blanck with two assists. Heather Lorincz helped the defense with an unassisted putout. New pitcher Kylie Blanck struck out seven St. Francis batters.
Against St. Peter’s, the CTK batting was led by Kylie Blanck going 6-for-8 with six RBI and Karen Stadtmueller hitting 5-for-7 with four RBI. Heather Lorincz went 4-for-7 with three RBI and Caitie Beattie was 3-for 6.
The CTK defense was led by Brigid Lorincz with two unassisted putout and Beattie with two putouts. Blanck made two assists, while Lorincz helped the defense with an unassisted putout and Stadtmueller ended the game catching a fly ball.
Pitcher Blanck was the MVP of the game striking out 12 St. Peter’s batters.
