Golf tournament
Friday, April 24 — The Bordentown Knights of Columbus 570 is sponsoring its Annual Golf Tournament at Fountain Green Golf Course/Fort Dix, rain or shine. There is an 8 a.m. Shotgun Start and the fee is $100 per golfer (best ball format). The cost includes continental breakfast, green fees, cart, gifts, beer and soda on the course, 50/50 holes (win cash), a chance to win a new car, longest drive and closest to the pin contests. Community sale
Saturday, April 25 — The Clara Barton School PTO’s first Community Sale will be held April 25. The sale will be held in the school gym, at 100 Crosswicks St. Bordentown, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Toys, books, clothing, household items will all be available. Home businesses and local crafters are also welcome. Table rental is $15 for CBS families and $20 for all other community members. Church dinner
Saturday, April 25 — Come let our youth serve you a fantastic meal of salad, spaghetti with homemade sauce, meatballs, rolls, butter, and dessert from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Hedding Methodist Church. Reserve your tickets early. Proceeds to benefit the Hedding Youth Posse and Junior Youth Groups. Adults $8, ages 3-12 $5, under 3 for free. Earth Day event
Saturday, April 25 — The Annual Earth Day Event will start at 9 a.m., to create a park on Oliver Street in Bordentown City. Volunteers will help clean up this open space parcel, plant native wildflowers and shrubs, and start a nature trail. Bring shovel and/or trowel, rake and gloves. Ticket auction
Saturday, April 25 — Bordentown Band Boosters annual ticket auction will be held at the high school, 318 Ward Ave. to benefit the BRHS band. Doors open at 6 p.m., auction begins at 7:30 p.m. $10 admission includes one sheet of tickets, door prize ticket, one beverage and one dessert. Bike Eric
Saturday, April 25 — The 11th Annual Bike Eric fundraiser will be held to benefit the Eric Potts Foundation. Eric was injured in a lacrosse game when he was 21 years old. He is a quadriplegic (paralyzed from the chest down). The event starts and finishes at Bung’s tavern at Route 130 in Florence. Door prizes available for participants. Candlelight vigil
Saturday, April 25 — A candlelight vigil from 7 to 8:30 p.m. is being held at the corner of Crosswicks Street and Farnsworth Avenue in Bordentown City. It is sponsored by “Three Sides to Every Story” and is part of a worldwide vigil. Parents in every state and across the world will be lighting candles to commemorate Parental Alienation Awareness Day which is April 25 of every year. Tuesday, April 28 — The BCEC Earth Talk for April will include a screening of “The Greening of Southie” at 7 p.m., about Boston’s first LEED-certified residential green building. With its sloping grass roof and recycled materials, The Macallen Building seemed an odd addition to South Boston – “Southie” – a traditionallyworking-class neighborhood. Yet The Macallen not only won high marks for its sustainable design ideas and offered its diverse residents luxury features, its creation also spurred construction workers and environmentalists to think about the city of the future. Geranium sale
Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 — The Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown is now accepting orders for their annual Geranium sale. Geraniums in a 6-inch pot cost $2.75 each and are available in red, white, pink, and salmon. To order, call 298-3547 or 298-1563. Hoagie sale
Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 — The Florence Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 is holding a hoagie and meatball sandwich sale from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 1 and from 11 a.m. until they sell out on May 2. The hoagies available are American, Italian and tuna. The price is $6 for either a hoagie or meatball sandwich, which includes beverage and chips. Advance orders are welcome by calling 499-6003 or fax 499-6004. Delivery is available locally. The sale will be held at the firehouse on 401 Firehouse Lane, Florence.
Shrimp Night
Friday, May 1 — The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 will have its monthly shrimp night at the Post on Friday, May 1. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until sold out. The cost is $10 for the shrimp platter, which consists of 15 large peel yourself shrimp, homemade potato salad and cole slaw plus dessert. If you would rather have a meatball sandwich, they are available with the same sides and dessert for only $7. Takeout orders are available. Saturday, May 2 — The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post and Unit 39 are sponsoring an Old Fashioned Sock Hop on Saturday, May 2. Dress is casual. Tickets are only $15 each with a cash bar. Sunday, May 3 — The Knights of Columbus No. 570 will sponsor a bus trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. History program
Wednesday, May 6 — The Bordentown Historical Society presents the second in a series of monthly free programs featuring local historic sites. “Howell Living History Farm” is part of the Mercer County Parks Commission and a working tribute to 19th century farm life in New Jersey. Come hear about the origin and restoration of the farm and the activities and programs available to adults and children throughout the ear. Golf tournament
Thursday, May 7 —Mark your calendars now for the Chesterfield Public Education Fund’s (CPEF) Annual Golf Tournament, Dinner & Live Auction, to be held at Mercer Oaks in Princeton Junction. Come for golf, dinner or both, and stay for the auction. This is the CPEF’s only fundraiser. To date, the CPEF has expended over $200,000 to purchase items for the classrooms as well as fund activities and programs for the students. Please plan to attend this great annual tradition! St. Mary’s gift baskets
Friday, May 15 — The St. Mary’s PTA will sponsor the school’s annual gift basket auction will be held at the Bordentown Elks Club, 11 Amboy Ave. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. The admission cost is $6 and includes a sheet of tickets, free dessert and a door prize ticket. There will be a large variety of beautiful gift items available. No one under 18 permitted.
