Support for Cheesman

Michael Tunney of Bordentown City
To the editor:
I was fortunate enough to grow up in a large family in Bordentown City and attend the Bordentown schools. I chose to stay in Bordentown and raise my family here. During the last 50-plus years, I have seen Bordentown grow from a tiny village to a thriving small city. Because of our city’s family atmosphere and neighborly attitude, many young families have either chosen to stay in Bordentown or moved here from other places.
I have known Heather Cheesman for many years, and I know she is as dedicated to Bordentown City as I am. I am very happy Heather is running for City Commissioner, because she brings a lifelong love of the City along with fresh and new ideas about running it. Her time on the School Board really made her aware of the financial aspects and expenses. I know in running the city she would guard our finances and make sure our taxes stay as reasonable as possible. She has a lot of concern for older city residents and has proposed a volunteer organization for helping older folks keep up their properties. She has also proposed an Arts and Culture Council staffed by volunteers to enhance our business district. Heather is a person with a lot of energy and a love of our city. Over the years I have discovered Heather has the capacity to discuss an issue with you she may disagree about, but at the end of the day you still remain friends and there are not hard feelings. Heather also knows everyone in town. If there is an issue she needs help understanding, she has no problem reaching out to people who do understand it. These characteristics are why I believe as Commissioner she would preserve the best of Bordentown as well as bring new ideas for making Bordentown even better.
I urge Bordentown City residents to visit Heather’s Web site at bordentowncity.org to read her platform, and to cast one of your votes for Heather on May 12.
