BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP — A Florence woman was killed in a one-car accident Sunday, according to the State Police.
Jeanne Hughes, 46, of Florence, was driving north on Route 295 at 5:39 p.m. Sunday when witnesses said she drove her 2000 Volkswagen Jetta across three lanes of traffic, leaving the roadway and striking a tree, according to State Police Sgt. Julian Castellanos.
The car’s two airbags deployed in the crash, the impact of which trapped Ms. Hughes, Sgt. Castellanos said. Ms. Hughes was pronounced dead at 8:10 p.m., he said.
State Police, the Burlington Township Fire Department and the Endeavor Emergency Squad responded to the scene, according to officials.
