Charlie Morgan responds on WW quorum dispute

Charlie Morgan of West Windsor Township Council
Two of Ms. Heidie Kleinman’s statements in Tuesday’s Princeton Packet article about the budget meeting quorum issue simply are not true. The article quotes her as saying that she “repeatedly” asked me “over two weeks to change the meeting time because she could not make it.” The other false statement is that I “kept saying that everybody wanted to keep it at five o’clock.”
Ms. Kleinman never told me “she could not make” the meeting. When she called me only a few minutes before the meeting, she said she would not be there. She did not say she could not make it.
I never said that “everybody wanted to keep (the 5:00 p.m. start) the same.” I said that there were only two people demanding that the time be changed because of Diane Ciccone’s schedule when Diane was saying she did not want to inconvenience anyone. Diane told me that the Administration was already going to review with her all the budget meetings she had missed before her appointment to Council. What I said was that the majority preferred to stay with the 5:00 p.m. start time even though everyone was willing to be flexible.
I have posted all of the e-mails online showing what was said. They contradict Ms. Kleinman’s statements.
While this quorum issue was manufactured for the upcoming election, this is a prime example of my opponents’ all-too-frequent habit of misrepresenting the truth. It is a political tactic to distract us from the real issues of taxes and open government and another reason why the voters get disgusted with politics.
It is sad to see an otherwise-honest person misrepresent the truth. Ms. Kleinman owes me and the public an apology. She and Ms. Geevers both owe us an apology for a boycott that created an unnecessary circus.
