It’s the good life in Hillsborough, and it tastes like Indian cuisine, sushi, Italian dishes, and barbecue, among other dishes.
The Hillsborough Education Foundation’s annual Taste of the Good Life in Hillsborough fundraiser is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, at the Roycebrook Golf Club on Hamilton Road. The $50 tickets can be purchased in advance at Affinity Credit Union, Culinary Creations, Hillsboro Pharmacy, Plaza Deli, the Learning Express, the Provident Bank and Wachovia Bank. If the event doesn’t sell out, any tickets available at the door will be $55.
This year, the foundation shifted the event to a larger site, to accommodate a larger crowd for the event HEF President Susan Sturges Spagnola said 300-350 are expected to attend Monday’s event.
”Roycebrook Golf Club gives us more space in one large area and additional parking,” said Christine Dombrowski, grants chairwoman and HEF board member. “Pheasants Landing was very nice, but it was a bit confusing because we had to use multiple areas to have enough room and even then, we were a bit crowded both inside and in the parking area. The event was still very enjoyable, but having the space at Roycebrook will be an improvement.”
Ms. Sturges Spagnola said the event also features a silent auction, with items ranging from a week at a Daytona Beach, Fla., house (with room for 10), a week at the Sheraton Vistana in Orlando, Fla., four airline tickets to anywhere, and a Shaun O’Hara-autographed NY Giants jersey.
Area restaurants Matsuba Sushi, the Grub Hut, the Restaurant at Roycebrook, Cuba Cabana Espresso, Verve Restaurant, Costco of Bridgewater, Famous Dave’s Barbecue, Hoysala Indian Cuisine, DeLuca’s Restaurant, the Red Wagon Gourmet, Pheasants Landing, Angelo’s Pizzeria, Bagel B.O.P, Super Sundaes, Rita’s Italian Ice, Charlie Brown’s, Culinary Creations, Wegmans, Plaza Deli, and Maggie Moo’s will showcase their dishes at the event.
Proceeds from the routinely sold-out event support scholarships for high school seniors, curriculum innovation grants for district teachers, grants for local adults looking to further their education, computer and art classes for local senior citizens, township cultural arts programs, and other educational opportunities for Hillsborough residents.
