A 36-year-old Hillsborough resident was killed in Marlboro Township in Monmouth County Tuesday, after she exited her vehicle in the shoulder of Route 18 North, walked into the right lane of the road and was struck by a truck at 4:30 p.m.
Stefanie Graham died from her injuries at Raritan Bay Hospital that same day.
According to police, Ms. Graham pulled her vehicle onto the shoulder of the road, got out and walked into the right lane of the highway. There, she was struck by a truck being driven by Joshua Moyer, 28, of Pennsylvania.
Police said they are still investigating why Ms. Graham walked into the roadway.
Marlboro police Sgt. Joseph Lenge said Mr. Moyer did not suffer any injuries in the incident.
No charges have been filed at this time, Sgt. Lenge said, but the incident is still being investigated by the Marlboro Township Traffic Safety Bureau, the Detective Bureau, Monmouth County prosecutor’s office and the New Jersey State Police Truck Unit.
Anyone with information on the incident should contact the investigating officers, Sgt. Lenge and Patrolman Brandon Stacey, at 732-536-0304.
