Police picked up a bicycle found near the intersection of West Camplain Road and South 10th Avenue at 3:30 p.m. April 13. No description of the bike was available. Police took the bicycle to headquarters.
At 4:33 p.m. April 13, a North 19th Avenue resident reported two Dell Inspiron laptop computers were missing from the residence. The resident reported seeing the computers, which were valued at $700 and $1,500, a day earlier. Police reported entering the machines into the National Crime Information Center database.
A caller reported finding a bicycle on Brooks Boulevard at 5:58 p.m. April 14. Police located the 26-inch “Next” mountain bike, and brought it to police headquarters.
A 16-year-old boy was taken into police custody for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana at 1:05 p.m. April 15, after a caller on South Main Street reported seeing five males smoking behind Manville Foods and Tobacco. The teenager, the only one still at the location when police arrived, was released to his parents after processing.
Police received a robbery report at 11:32 p.m. April 16 at the Spring Garden Chinese food restaurant on South Main Street. The restaurant owner reported $98 missing from the cash register, and believed the thief entered through an unlocked basement door, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
A 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, both of Bound Brook, were taken into custody for violating curfew and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana at 12:18 p.m. April 18. Police reported seeing the teenagers near the bathrooms at Dukes Park on Brooks Boulevard, and the subsequent investigation found the marijuana.
Heather Gawel, 19, of South 15th Avenue, was charged with shoplifting at 11:15 a.m. April 19, after an A&P manager reported a shoplifter left the North Main Street store on a bicycle, and headed toward Arby’s. Police reported Arby’s employees identified Ms. Gawel, who was then charged. Ms. Gawel was released pending a court date.
