A South Main Street resident was arrested Friday on drug charges after police responded to information that he would be selling cocaine on Davenport Street, in Somerville.
Duane Bell, 33, was charged with third-degree distribution of cocaine and third-degree distribution of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school.
Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forrest said the county’s Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force responded to Davenport Street at 7 p.m. Friday to conduct narcotics surveillance. He said detectives saw Mr. Bell arrive and Brenden Saunders, 34, of Somerville, get into the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
Mr. Bell was stopped on West Brown Street, in Somerville.
Mr. ForRest said Mr. Bell was also found to be in possession of $464. He was being held at the Somerset County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Mr. Saunders was taken into custody after a small plastic bag of cocaine fell out of his pant leg as he got out of the vehicle, according to Mr. Forrest. He was charged with third-degree possession of cocaine, and was released on his own recognizance.
Mr. Forrest said the estimated street value of the seized cocaine is $400.
