The Zoning Board of Adjustment will decide in May whether to grant a use variance that would allow a new hotel to be constructed on Route 1.
The application, from DC Hospitality, seeks to build a four-story, 51-foot high, 124-room extended stay lodging facility for the chain Value Place.
A variance is needed for the height and parking requirements.
The total building is 45,052 square feet, according to Ron Schmalz, the township’s public affairs coordinator.
The 3.707-acre lot is located on northbound Route 1 close to the water tower on Major Road. Nothing is currently located on the lot.
The lot is located in the Office Park Zoning District, which sets the height limit at 35 feet, thus requiring the use variance.
A portion of the parking area needs a bulk variance for its proximity to Route 1.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment will hear the application on May 21.
