Zonia E. Juarez-Perez, 46, of New York Avenue, in Trenton, was charged with shoplifting clothing worth $634.86 from Macy’s at the Quaker Bridge Mall at 2:56 p.m. April 26, police said. She was released on a summons.
Arthur Ford, 18, of Riverside Avenue, in Trenton, was charged with shoplifting jewelry worth $109.97 from Sears at the Quaker Bridge Mall at 5:07 p.m. April 24, police said. He was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center on $500 bail because of an outstanding warrant.
The Franklin F. Moore Library, at Rider University, was evacuated for about two hours April 23 after an employee discovered a suspicious liquid in a prescription medicine bottle on a shelf on the third floor of the library at 3:20 p.m. April 23, police said.
The label on the bottle indicated the contents should be prescription pills and not a liquid. Police attempted to contact the township resident, whose name was listed on the medicine bottle, without success. It is not known how long the bottle had been left on the book shelf.
The Trenton Fire Department’s hazardous materials response unit was called in for assistance. When the contents were tested, it was discovered the liquid was a cleaning fluid that was nontoxic and nonhazardous, police said.
Mariana S. Toderici, 28, of Monmouth Junction, was charged with shoplifting food and cosmetics worth a combined $63.88 from ShopRite at the Mercer Mall at 4:10 p.m. April 22, police said. She was released on a summons.
Someone broke the padlocks off 39 storage units at the Extra Space Storage business on Brunswick Pike in two separate incidents — one that occurred between 6 p.m. April 20 and 9 a.m. April 21 and between 6 p.m. April 22 and 7:25 a.m. April 23, police said.
Nothing was reported missing from any of the storage lockers, and there was no sign of forced entry into the building, according to police.
A Trenton resident reported the theft of his Garmin GPS unit, valued at $150, from his locked 2001 Honda Civic while the car was parked outside Applebee’s restaurant, on Brunswick Pike, between 5:15 and 11:15 p.m. April 19, police said. The thief broke the driver’s side window to gain entry.
