Saluting volunteers

Mike Hunninghake, Bordentown City Environmental Commission Chair
To the editor:
Many thanks to the more than three dozen volunteers who came out to our seventh annual Earth Day event last Saturday to help create the new Oliver Street Park. Volunteers spent more than three hours on the first truly hot day of the season creating a wood chip trail and removing debris from the 3.6-acre open space parcel at the corner of Oliver and Chestnut Streets. Future volunteer activities will include planting a meadow of native wildflowers and shrubs and creating a picnic area. Thanks also to Don Stein, Arbor Pro Tree Care, and the Bordentown City Public Works Department for their donation of time and materials for this project.
