   Intergenerational poetry event: Mercer County Community College’s Honors Introduction to Literature: Poetry class invites the community to participate in an open discussion on poems selected from past centuries through the modern day. 12:30 to 2 p.m. Professor Fran Davidson, who teaches the class, is collaborating with the Lawrence Library in this cross-generational discussion that will allow all ages to connect and develop a greater understanding of how our life experiences inform and enrich our interpretations of poetry. Copies of the poems to be discussed can be picked up at the library’s Reference Desk.

Friday, May 1

   Occupational Fraud and Money Laundering: Rider University’s Center for Business Forensics will host a free seminar on Occupational Fraud and Money Laundering in the small business environment. 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Sweigart Hall Auditorium, Room 115. Four CPE credits for New Jersey and New York CPAs will be offered for those who attend. An informative handout will also be available. The presentation will be led by Dr. Dorothy McMullen and Dr. Maria Sanchez, both associate professors of Accounting and members of Rider’s Center for Business Forensics.    Using Newspapers for Genealogy: Learn from professional genealogist Casey Zahn how to access free and fee-based sites to find information about your family’s genealogy using newspapers available through the Mercer County Library System. 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Lawrence Library. Thursday, May 7

   Yoga Practice: This series of six yoga classes will be taught by Sunita Yadav on consecutive Thursdays through June 4 (no class instruction on May 14). All levels of experience are welcome.    Town and Gown House Tour: The fifth biennial house tour’s theme of “Town and Gown” celebrates 200 years of friendship between the Lawrenceville School and the Village. Visitors will have the opportunity to view three historic homes on campus as well as five residences in the village. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance tickets are $20, event day tickets are $25.    Lawrence Poetry Circle: Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Gary Snyder blends his interest in the environment, Zen Buddhism and nature into his work. Pick up a packet of the selected Snyder poems from the Lawrence Reference Desk. 7 p.m. Lawrence Library.
   Foreign Films at Your Library: “Lake Tahoe” (Mexico, 2008). Juan crashes the family car into a telephone pole on the outskirts of town, and then scours the streets searching for someone to help him fix it.
