Substance abuse and teens program at MHSN tonight

MIDDLETOWN — Middletown High School North staff will present a workshop on the warning signs of drug and alcohol addiction in the school auditorium at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 21.

High School North is located at 63 Tindall Road in Middletown. All parents in the Middletown and surrounding communities are strongly encouraged to attend.

The Middletown school district is the largest K-12 school district in Monmouth County.

In conjunction with the community, the school annually sponsors programs to promote teenage awareness of drug and alcohol abuse, particularly during prom time.

“Drug abuse, especially heroin, is a middle-class problem. It is imperative that we educate our parents on the signs and symptoms of drug addiction. We can’t combat this problem alone. We need parent knowledge and cooperation. We hope many parents will attend this important workshop,” said Student Assistance Counselor Rosemary Richards.
