Kiwanis members will travel to Tennessee

JACKSON — Three members of the Kiwanis Club of Jackson will travel to Nashville, Tenn., from June 25 to June 28 for the organization’s 94th annual international convention.

Jackson Kiwanis President-elect Floyd Adams, Service Treasurer-elect Melissa Santoro and Lt. Gov. Larry Meegan will join more than 5,000 Kiwanians and guests from around the world as they elect new international officers, celebrate the organization’s service to children and communities, focus on leadership, and participate in workshops.

According to a press release, the Kiwanis Club of Jackson was organized in 1991 and has donated more than $17,000 in college scholarship to Jackson high school graduates.

The Kiwanis Club sponsors Key Clubs, an organization of high school students dedicated to community service, in both Jackson high schools, and at Biotechnology High School in Freehold Township; and Builders Clubs in the two Jackson middle schools.

The Kiwanis Club has conducted safety fairs, helped clean local roads and parks, helped eliminate iodine deficiencies around the world, and partnered with many local organizations to help make Jackson a better place to live, according to the press release.

The club meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at Eagle Ridge Country Club, Lakewood. Interested parties are invited to attend a meeting. Call 732-367- 0177 to make a reservation.
