In celebration of their 30th anniversary, the 75-member Bergen County Cooperative Library System will host “BooksNJ 2009, a celebration of books and the readers who love them” on Sunday, June 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Paramus Public Library, 116 East Century Rd., Paramus. Over 90 authors are scheduled to appear at the free outdoor book festival which will feature areas for poetry, history, fiction, non-fiction, children, young adults, illustrations and photography. There will be author readings; storytelling; panel discussions on writing, publishing and book clubs; book signings; crafts; and a poetry slam (a competitive poetry performance). An Oldies Concert with The Retros will follow.
Among the authors attending are Joshua Henken, author of Matrimony which was listed as one of the NY Times top 100 books of the year; Mary Jane Clark, best selling mystery writer; Chris Grabenstein, whose mysteries are set at the Jersey Shore; Susan Beth Pfeffer, recipient of the Garden State Book Award for her novel Life as We Knew ItEverything Asian is about a Korean family in New Jersey. Woo most recently had an article published in the New Jersey section of the Sunday New York Times entitled A Mom and Pop Store and More.
