YOUTH SOFTBALL
The Hillsborough Girls Softball Intermediate League’s Fighting Irish beat the Hawkeyes by a 21-14 score with a strong and balanced offense.
Kristen Reilly went 2-for-3 with two RBI and five stolen bases and Deborah Stoddard had four stolen bases and an RBI hit. Kelly Zona helped the team with a hit and three stolen bases, while Kerry Mitchell contributed a hit and three RBI and Samantha Goldstein drove in two runs. Olivia Beyer and Alyssa Lubin each helped the team with one RBI.
Karen Stadtmueller (4 walks, 4 stolen bases), Sydney Gonzalez (3 walks, 3 steals) and Erica Daugherty (3 walks, 3 steals) showed off their Hawk eyes against the Hawkeyes. Laura Heddy and Nicole Alexander each walked twice and Alexander stole a base.
The Fighting Irish defense was led by Daugherty with two putouts including one unassisted at the plate and Stadtmueller with two putouts. Reilly caught a fly ball and made two assists, while Lubin made two assists and Zona and Stoddard each caught a fly ball. Beyer also contributed a putout for the winners.

Fighting Irish 17, Rams 12 The Irish beat the Rams twice this week with strong batting led by Kristen Reilly, who had a hit, two walks and two stolen bases, and Lauren Belski, who hit 3-for-4, including a triple and six RBI.. Kerry Mitchell and Haley Meier each went 2-for-4 with two and three RBI, respectively, and two and three stolen bases, respectively. Kelly Zona and Samantha Goldstein each contributed an RBI hit and two steals and Olivia Beyer and Nicole Alexander each helped the team with an RBI.
The team’s strong defense was led by Belski with four putouts, one a fly out, and Laura Heddy with a fly out and an assist. Zona made two assists while Meier caught a fly ball and Deborah Stoddard and Mitchell each contributed a putout to the defense. Sydney Gonzalez helped by striking out a Ram batter.
The Rams batting was led by Gabriella Perruso, who hit 2-for-2. Corie Wakai and Courtney DeFeo each contributed a hit, with two walks for DeFeo. Lindsey DeFeo also walked twice.
Fighting Irish 16, Rams 12 The Fighting Irish beat the Rams in a second game this week with strong batting led by Erica Daugherty and Nicole Alexander each with a hit and walk. Daugherty walked twice and stole a base.
The Rams batting was led by Corie Wakai (3-for-3) and Courtney DeFeo, who had a hit and three walks. Kristen Wadams and Wakai each pitched well in both games for the Rams.
Ragin Cajuns 17, Fighting Irish 10 The Irish lost to the Ragin Cajuns despite strong batting led by Lauren Belski with a hit, two RBI and two stolen bases, and Nicole Alexander, who contributed and RBI hit and a stolen base. Kerry Mitchell, Samantha Goldstein and Jamie Wauters each showed off their eyes with a walk, two for Mitchell.
The Fighting Irish strong defense was led by Kelly Zona with a putout, a fly out, and an assist, and Erica Daugherty and Alyssa Lubin each making a putout and an assist. Deborah Stoddard, Olivia Beyer and Belskie each contributed a putout to the Fighting Irish defense, while Sydney Gonzalez and Haley Meier each helped the team with an assist and Laura Heddy fielded many balls in the outfield and got them in quickly.
