Strawberry Festival
Friday, June 5 — The annual Strawberry Festival will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at 420 Farnsworth Ave. in Bordentown City. There will be food, drinks, games, prizes, face painting and fun for the entire family.
Shrimp Night
Friday, June 5 — The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39, Fourth Avenue, Roebling, will have its last shrimp night before summer vacation on Friday, June 5. We will start up again on Sept. 4. Come out and enjoy 15 large shrimp with homemade potato salad, cole slaw and dessert for only $10. If you would prefer, you can get a meatball sandwich with the same sides for only $7. Serving begins at 5 p.m. until sold out. Takeout orders are available by calling 609-499-3880 any time after 3 p.m. Your order can be picked up 5 p.m. or after. Come out and enjoy visiting with your neighbors. Blood drive
Saturday, June 6 —From 9 a.m. to noon, ProAdjuster Chiropractic and Re/Max Bordentown will sponsor a Blood Drive and Children’s Cancer Fundraiser benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Come and support these great causes, plus a face-painting booth, cotton candy, magician, cookie decorating, games, and more at 1028 Route 206 ReMax Excel building in Bordentown (corner of Farnsworth and 206). Spring cleanup
Saturday, June 6 —The Bordentown Township Environmental Commission will host a Spring Environmental Commission Cleanup on Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. until noon. The area selected for the clean up is the newly acquired Veterans Park. The purpose of the clean up is to provide awareness of the importance in keeping our greenways free from trash and debris.
Volunteers will assemble at the parking lot located off Fern Lane off Charles Bossert Drive at 9 a.m. Prior to the clean up participants will receive safety instructions and a brief area environmental overview. Volunteers will be provided with gloves and trash bags. Participants will access Veterans Park via Joseph Lawrence Park. The cleanup will end at noon. Participants need not remain for the entire three hours.

Jazz on the River
Saturday, June 6 — Jazz on the River Benefit for Habitat for Humanity New Orleans will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight at Bordentown Yacht Club, Farnsworth Avenue and the River, Bordentown City. $30 donation per person (tax deductible). Enjoy tasty treats while listening to the sounds of jazz from the Tiger Town Trio, Jerry Rife Ensemble, Ringoes Jazz Quartet, and Denise Montana.
Green fair
Sunday, June 7 — An Environmental/Go Green Fair, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Mansfield Township Community Park. The event is organized by Katherine Szatkowski to achieve her Girl Scout Gold Award. The fair emphasizes ways to Go Green, conserving the environment and other environmental issues. There will be booths demonstrating different informational brochures, games and crafts for the children, Go Green tips, facts and more.
Widows and widowers
Sunday, June 7 — The Widow or Widowers of Burlington will have a dance from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Korean Presbyterian Church, 147 Route 130 North, Bordentown Township. Cost is $7 members, $10 guests. Musice by the Emotions. Call 298-4174 for information.
Casino trip
Sunday, June 7 — The Knights of Columbus No. 570 will sponsor a bus trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. A bus will leave from St. Mary’s Church on Elizabeth Street in Bordentown City at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay. The cost is $25 per person and each attendee will receive $30 slot play in Showboat. Swim signups
Monday, June 8 — The Country Pool Swim Team will have a Parent Meeting and Team Sign up on Monday, June 8, at 6:30 p.m. at 73 Waln Road, Chesterfield. Ages K-12th grade welcome. Swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool without stopping. Coach is Christina Caiafa. Pool memberships are also available, but not required for team participation. Mass for healing
Monday, June 8 — St. Mary Church in Bordentown is hosting a Mass for Healing celebrated by Father John Campoli of His Love Ministries at 7 p.m. Following the Mass will be individual prayer and Laying on of Hands for the sick. Father Campoli is an internationally known speaker and operates in the Gift of Healing. An offering for Fr. Campoli’s ministry will be taken during the Mass. Bingo night
Tuesday, June 9 — Bingo starts at 7:15 p.m. at the Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085. Bingo is held every Tuesday night.
Sandwich night
Wednesday, June 10 — The Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085 holds sandwich night every Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the lodge. The price is $6 per person.
Book club

BCEC meeting
Wednesday, June 10 — The regular monthly meeting of the Bordentown City Environmental Commission (BCEC) will be held at 7 p.m. at the Carslake Community Center. Soup sale
Friday, June 12 — Homemade vegetable-beef soup sale for takeout only at Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown City. Advance order required, $5.50 per quart, pickup from 2 to 3 p.m. Order soon as we sell out quickly, you must order to purchase. Field Day
Saturday, June 13 — 71st Annual Field Day event in Columbus begins at 1 p.m. with a parade through the village followed by games, displays, and a special talent show with local talent in the Municipal Park. Graduation mass
Saturday, June 13 — St Andrew’s R.C. Church, 2489 Monmouth Road Jobstown, is having a Graduation Mass for all persons graduating this June. It will be held at the church at 4:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
Soccer tryouts
Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14 — The Bordentown Blaze Boys travel team is holding tryouts from 10 to 11 a.m. All boys born Aug. 1, 1999 or later are eligible to try out. For more information email [email protected] or call Mike at 609-234-4600.
Ice cream social

Humanitarian award
Friday, June 19 — Bordentown City Cats will hold its annual humanitarian of the year award June 19. Due to the lack of funds that many people are experiencing the group must redouble its efforts to provide assistance to kitties and the families that love them. The event will be held at 6 p.m. at Silk and Tweed, Farnsworth Avenue. Refreshments will be served. Call Mak, 298-4456.
Lions benefit
Saturday, June 20 — Bordentown Lions Club will be at the Bordentown Acme on Dunns Mills Road from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will be collecting money to benefit Lions projects.
The club will also be collecting used eyeglasses to benefit the less fortunate. Local members will be available to talk about Lions club projects and membership.
Free balloons for children and pens for adults, while supplies last.
Garden tour
Saturday, June 27 — The Bordentown Historical Society invites residents of Bordentown City to participate in this year’s Garden Tour on June 27. Whether you have a large or small yard, a garden full of flowers or perhaps a “green” yard, if you’re proud of your space and willing to share the joy, please call Anne Lyon at 291-8077. This event helps support the educational programs and maintenance of historical properties like the Clara Barton Schoolhouse.
Car show
Saturday, June 27 — Bordentown Elks 2085 Veterans Committee is sponsoring its second annual car show Saturday, June 27. Music, food, 50/50s, and trophies. Will feature 1986 and older cars and trucks. Registration from 9 to 11 a.m., awards presentation at 3 p.m.
Location is Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085, 11 Amboy Road. Pre-registration, $12, day of show, $15. All proceeds to benefit our two adopted units in Iraq and our adopted veterans in the Vineland Veterans Home. Golf outing
Monday, June 29 —The Northern Burlington County Regional High School Band Booster’s will hold its fourth annual golf outing at the Fountain Green Golf Course located on the Fort Dix base. A 1 p.m. scramble format with a shotgun start is scheduled, with registration beginning at 11 a.m. The tax deductible donation for golf and dinner is only $95; which includes lunch, prizes, golf, and dinner. Dinner only guests’ are invited to join us for $35 following golf. The proceeds are used to support the award winning NBC marching unit.
