Mrs. Abel, 91, of Red Bank, died May 18, 2009, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was an artist and instructor and exhibiting artist at The Guild of Creative Art, Shrewsbury. She was also the art director for the borough of Little Silver. She exhibited at several local galleries as well as the Whitney Museum and Lincoln Center in New York City. Mrs. Abel was the president of the Jersey Shore Chapter of People to People and the recipient of its 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon Arnold Abel; and a brother, Donald. She is survived by a son, Craig Reid Abel of Red Bank and New York. A funeral service was held at First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank-Tower Hill. Interment was at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.
