The 23rd Annual New Jersey International Track and Field Meet will be held on Saturday on the Bob Roggy Memorial Field at Holmdel High School. This event, named in memory of the late Bob Roggy, a world class javelin thrower who starred at Holmdel High School, has brought some of the sport’s finest athletes to participate in the meet. Among them have been Ireland’s Eamonn Coghlan and New Jersey’s own Joetta Clark.

The meet gets under way at 4 p.m. with the field events. The track races will start at 5 p.m. with the Elliott Denman One-Mile Racewalk. Among the other events are the Lindsey Gallo Girls High School Mile, George Kochman High School Mile, Rich Kenah Men’s Elite 800 meters, Frank Budd Elite Men’s and Women’s 100-meter dash, Joetta Clark Diggs Women’s Elite 800 meters and Eamonn Coghlan Men’s Elite Mile.

In the field, the feature event is always the Bob Roggy Memorial Javelin Throw. The Memorial Field at Holmdel is named after the late Roggy, who was a world-class javelin thrower holding the American record at one time, and in 1982, he had the longest throw in the world.
