MONROE — An 85-year-old township woman remained hospitalized this week with injuries suffered when her vehicle rolled on top of her and pinned her legs to the ground Friday.
A spokeswoman at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, said Helen Puritz was in good condition on Monday.
Puritz had parked her 2000 Toyota Camry in her driveway on James Buchanan Drive, in the Concordia adult community. She walked around to the back of her vehicle when it began to roll backwards, knocking her down. The car rolled on top of her legs and came to a stop with her pinned underneath, according to Monroe police.
The Applegarth and Central Monroe fire departments responded to the scene and raised the Toyota using inflatable air bags, and removed the victim. Monroe Township First Aid workers transported her to Robert Wood Johnson. Officer Jabazz Spence of the Monroe Township Police Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the accident.
