The East Brunswick Elks Club will sponsor a Tricky-Tray Raffle to benefit the Lesley Carness and Jon Mustafa Memorial Scholarship Fund 6-10 p.m. June 13 at the Elks Club, 21 Oakmont Ave., East Brunswick.
The fund is named in honor of Lesley and Jon, a young couple from East Brunswick who died as the result of injuries sustained in an April 2007 car crash just south of West Ferris Street. The scholarships will go to two East Brunswick High School graduating seniors to offset the cost of their higher education in the culinary arts and accounting, the fields Lesley and Jon planned to pursue.
The event will feature a hot buffet dinner. Grand door prize is a 42-inch plasma television. There will be one free entry for the grand door prize with each paid dinner ticket; individuals must be present to win. Additional raffle tickets may be purchased for other prizes including theater tickets, New York Giants tickets and restaurant gift certificates.
Admission tickets cost $25 per adult, $15 per student, in advance; youngsters age 12 and under will be admitted free of charge. If still available, tickets also may be purchased at the door at a cost of $30 per adult, $20 per student. Advance reservations are strongly suggested.
Checks for tickets or monetary donations should be sent to The Lesley Carness and Jon Mustafa Scholarship Fund, c/o The Provident Bank, 371 Spotswood-Englishtown Road, Monroe Township, NJ 08831.
Businesses and organizations are sought to contribute prizes to be raffled off at the fundraiser. Donors will be recognized at the event and in the foundation newsletter. All donations will be used for the sole purpose of raising money for the scholarship fund.
