Millstone woman earns two business awards

MILLSTONE — A township woman is the recipient of two prestigious business awards recently bestowed by local organizations.

Susan Koval received the Nancy C. Righter Service Award on June 2 at the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO) annual conference. On June 4 she was the recipient of the Circle of Excellence Award in the small business category, which was given at the Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce awards dinner at Battleground Country Club in Manalapan. Koval and her husband, Adam, have lived in Millstone since 1995.

Koval, a member of the Monmouth- Ocean chapter of NJAWBO, became eligible to compete for the Nancy C. Righter Award when she received a Teal Heart Award from her chapter in January. Teal Heart Awards recognize those who provide “service above and beyond” to their chapter. Koval received the Nancy C. Righter award in recognition for service to her chapter and to the organization as a whole, the local business community and community organizations.

Koval, has been a member of the Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce since 2004. The Circle of Excellence Award in the small business category recognizes a company with 25 or fewer employees that has worked for the betterment of the business community and fostered business goals throughout Monmouth County.

Koval Associates LLC (www.kovalassociates. com) assists local businesses with employee-related challenges, helping them with performance-based hiring, team training and development, performance assessment and job matching. Koval Associates also offers presentations about women in nontraditional careers to schools, businesses and civic organizations.

An instructor for the Rutgers University Center for Management Development, Koval serves as chair of the Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce Education and Programming Committee. As chair, she leads the “Team Challenge,” a business and ethics competition for seven local high schools in the county. She is also the newsletter chair of the Monmouth-Ocean Chapter of the NJAWBO, and is on the board of directors of the Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce and the Monmouth- Ocean Chapter of NJAWBO.

Koval volunteers with the Handicapped High Riders at Riding High Farm in Allentown and is on the Board of Directors of the Horsemen’s Association of Millstone Township. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources.
