Howard “Popeye” E. Conk

Mr. Howard “Popeye” E. Conk, 76, a lifelong resident of Freehold Township, died June 23, 2009 at The Manor in Freehold Township. He worked at John Iron Salvage for over twenty years, retiring in 1984. Mr. Conk was predeceased by his wife, Joan; a son, Anthony; and a grandson, Christopher. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Eileen Conk of Jackson, Eddie and Kim Conk of Pine Beach, and John and Frances Conk of Farmingdale; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Russ Clark of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Denise Conk of Toms River; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Abram and Edwin Conk, both of Freehold Township; a sister, Earlene Gordon of Freehold Township; and an aunt, Leona Haviland of Wall. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment in Harmony Cemetery, Jackson.
