H&R Block’s nonprofit referral program has generated thousands of dollars for local nonprofits this year, and awarded area nonprofits with $25 for each new client they referred to H&R Block for tax preparation.
According to Joe Velona, district manager, Middletown, nearly 900 charitable organizations nationwide received a donation from H&R Block through the program. Nationwide, more than 3,800 nonprofits enrolled in the program, resulting in an H&R Block donation of nearly $350,000.
Nonprofits often see charitable donations increase toward the end of the year as taxpayers maximize their yearly tax deduction for donations. This program provides area nonprofits with an opportunity to raise funds at the beginning of the year when private donations traditionally decline.
