The New Egypt Hurricanes, a U12 boys travel soccer team, captured the U12 boys championship title at the 2009 Beach Blast on the beach in Wildwood on June 28. More than 900 teams participated in the weekend tournament. Leading the scoring for the squad from Plumsted were Raphael Archer and Gavin Pritchard with four goals apiece over the four-game series, with additional scoring by Matt Talalaj and Vinnie Masitti. Strong offensive support was provided by Camren Allen and Brett Van Tassel, with stellar defensive efforts by Jordan Rugo, Kevin Carduner and Gage Chumney. Kenny Johnston was the team MVP in goal.
