At its Monday night meeting, Princeton Township Committee approved a resolution providing a 4 percent salary increase for police officers and 3 percent for all other municipal employees for 2009.
Borough Administrator James Pascale said the 4 percent increase had been negotiated with the Police Benevolent Association, and a 3 percent increase had been negotiated with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. The union salary increases “were negotiated prior to the downturn in our economy,” Mr. Pascale said.
The 3 percent increase for non-union township employees was included “to equally treat these employees as well,” Mr. Pascale said.
With the increases, Mr. Pascale continues to be the highest paid township employee, earning $171,910. The next highest paid township employees are police Chief Mark Emann, who earns $156,832; township Engineer Robert Kiser, who earns $146,506; police Capt. Robert Buchanan, who earns $146,016; and police Lt. Michael Henderson, who earns $135,200.
Nineteen township municipal employees earn in excess of $100,000, including 12 police officers, while 37 municipal employees earn in excess of $90,000, including 27 police officers.
Mayor Bernie Miller earns a part-time salary of $11,991, and the four other members of Township Committee each earn $9,975.
