‘Ladies of Luxury’ coming to library

“Ladies of Luxury,” a free program on America’s first women millionaires, will be presented at noon July 31 at the Spotswood Public Library, 548 Main St.

The performance, featuring Kati Bedow Brower and Diane Warn-Farris of Local Commotion, is an hour-long visit with two wealthy, self-made 19th-century women, Madam C.J. Walker and Annie May Turnborough. The two women will share their stories of hardship, struggle and triumph in the face of bigotry and misogyny.

Local Commotion is a performance company based in Hazlet. The program is offered as part of the Spotswood Library’s Get Creative summer program.

Admission is free of charge. The public is invited. Reservations are recommended. Light refreshments will be served after the presentation.
