The East Brunswick Police Department will hold its annual Department of Public Safety Night 6-9 p.m. Aug. 4 around the municipal pond, behind East Brunswick Police headquarters, Jean Walling Civic Center.
The event is designed to generate support for anticrime initiatives and to strengthen the relationship between the police department and the community it serves.
There will be displays from every division and every specialized section within the police department. Members of many other police and emergency-service organizations will be on hand, conducting demonstrations and displays. DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officers will participate, and their cars will be on view.
The township fire companies and Rescue Squad will display equipment. Firefighters and emergency-medical technicians (EMTs) will be available to answer questions. Several Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups and representatives of other township businesses and organizations will attend.
Other highlights will include crafts, rides and games. There will be free food and refreshments.
The event is funded by the East Brunswick Alliance for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
