South River will observe the annual National Night Out with a street fair and party 5-10 p.m. Aug. 4 on the South River High School grounds, Montgomery Street.
The event, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the South River Police Department and the South River Municipal Alliance, will take place rain or shine.
There will be activities including rides (buy a $5 bracelet and ride all night), a dog show, a science exhibition, a DJ dance contest and live entertainment provided by local talent. Vendors, crafters and exhibitors will be on site.
The live music will be performed by Brother Billy (solo original music), Living in Shapes (rock ‘n’ roll), Chelsea Hawley and Friends and The Billy Boys (rock ‘n’ roll by blind musicians). The Billy Boys are an offshoot of MAVIS (an organization of blind musicians) with two original members and a student of MAVIS.
